Dr Emma Ridley | Clinical Dietitian, ANZIC-RC, Monash University and Alfred Health
Emma is a Senior Research Fellow, NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow and leads the Nutrition Program at the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
Emma has 17 years of clinical dietetic experience, including as a senior dietitian in the ICU at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. After completing her PhD in 2018, Emma’s primary research interest is the effect of long term nutrition interventions for the critically ill.
Emma is internationally recognized as a critical care dietitian and researcher, ranked in the top 1% on Expertscape for many clinical nutrition topics and regularly presents both nationally and internationally. Emma has more than 90 peer reviewed publications and has been a named investigator on more than $8 million dollars of research funding. Emma is the CIA on the INTENT trial (NCT03292237) (in 23 sites across Australia) and for NUTRIENT in 46 hospitals in Australia and New Zealand.
Shelley Heunis | Clinical Dietcian | Whangārei Hospital, Te Tai Tokerau
Shelley Heunis is a Registered Dietitian currently working at Whangārei Hospital, Te Tai Tokerau.
After working as a dietitian in South Africa for 10 years, she relocated with her family in 2019 to New Zealand and settled in the sunny north. Since being in NZ, Shelley has worked in surgical providing care and treatment for surgical and critically ill patients.
She is also part of the ICU SIG Committee and enjoys sharing her professional experiences and learnings with others.
Jonathon Taylor | Intensive care specialist | Auckland City hospital
Jonathon is a full time intensive care specialist in the department of critical care medicine at Auckland city hospital where he has worked for the last 2 years.
Jonathon has a special interest in neurocritical care and trauma management.
Kirk Freeman | Intensive care specialist | Auckland City Hospital
Kirk has been an intensive care specialist at the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Auckland City Hospital since 2016 after moving to Aotearoa New Zealand from the UK where he completed his training in both intensive care and general medicine.
He has a special interest in renal critical care and RRT in the ICU. His other interests include healthcare law, organ donation, health technology and medical devices. He is also a honorary senior lecturer at Auckland University.
