How soon after pregnancy can you exercise?

This is different for every woman and depends on the level fitness during pregnancy and how straightforward the labour was. It is important to gradually start with light exercise and only introduce more intense exercise around 6 – 8 weeks if you feel comfortable. Getting back to previous exercise levels can take several months.

If you didn’t exercise regularly before or during pregnancy, had an assisted birth or caesarean, or experienced complications in labour, it’s best to introduce exercise gradually.
