What foods have vitamin D for pregnancy?

Vitamin D is crucial in supporting the development of your baby’s bones, teeth and muscles. The most effective source of vitamin D is exposure to sunlight because your body produces vitamin D in response to UVB rays on your skin.

Oily fish, egg yolks and certain types of mushrooms are among the few dietary sources.  If you have any risk factors for vitamin D deficiency, you should have a screening blood test either before you are pregnant or early in your pregnancy. If you are found to have a low level, your Healthcare Professional may recommend you start taking vitamin D supplements daily.
